Bikaneri Authentic Sangri – Authentic Rajasthani Flavour at Your Doorstep

Discover the true taste of Rajasthan with our Bikaneri Authentic Sangri, a culinary gem that brings the desert’s rich heritage straight to your plate. Made from handpicked, sun-dried sangri pods sourced from the hardy Khejri trees of the Thar Desert, this delicacy is cherished for its earthy flavor, long shelf life, and nostalgic aroma.

Why This Sangri Stands Out

  1. Raw & Real Ingredients

Our sangri comes from the sturdy Khejri tree, known as the “wish-fulfilling tree” of the desert. Villagers carefully harvest the pods by hand, boil them just enough to soften, then sun-dry them to perfectly preserve their natural flavor and nutritional value. This traditional process ensures freshness that lasts for years.

  2. Heritage & Tradition in Every Bite

Because of its long-lasting quality, sangri became a staple during lean times and festive rituals. It was and still is widely enjoyed during Sheetala Ashtami, a tradition that values cold, preserved foods.

  3. Unique Regional Cuisine

Ker Sangri—the celebrated Rajasthani dish made from sangri pods and ker berries—is a testament to the resourcefulness of Thar Desert inhabitants, turning scarce, hardy ingredients into a cherished, tangy-savoury sabzi loved across Rajasthan.

How to Cook Bikaneri Sangri – Simple & Delicious

  1. Wash & Soak

Rinse the sangri pods thoroughly to remove any dust. Soak them in water for at least 6–8 hours or overnight to rehydrate.

  2. Boil & Strain

Boil the soaked sangri until tender, drain, and rinse again. This makes them ready to absorb spices.

  3. Cook the Sabzi

Heat mustard oil in a pan and add cumin seeds, asafoetida, whole red chilies, and spices like turmeric, coriander, red chili, and dried mango powder (amchoor). Fry briefly till fragrant.

Add the boiled sangri, mix well, and cook for a few minutes. Optionally, stir in yogurt for tang, or raisins for a touch of sweetness. Garnish with fresh coriander.
