Delete Your BiteBasket Account
If you would like to delete your BiteBasket account and associated personal data, you can submit a deletion request using the form below.
You do not need to be logged in. This request covers your account on the BiteBasket website (bitebasket.in) and the BiteBasket Android app.
What information will be deleted
Once we verify the request, we permanently delete the following:
- Your account profile — name, email address, phone number and password
- Saved delivery addresses
- Wishlist and saved items
- Shopping cart contents
- Product reviews, ratings and comments you posted (removed or anonymised)
- Email, SMS and push-notification preferences, and any marketing consent
- Login sessions, authentication tokens and device identifiers
- Support messages and enquiries linked to your account (unless needed for an open dispute)
What information may be retained, and why
Some records cannot be deleted immediately because we are legally required to keep them or need them for a limited, specific purpose. Retained data is minimised and is never used for marketing.
Order, invoice and payment records
Why: Indian tax and company law (Income-tax Act, GST law and the Companies Act, 2013) requires a business to keep records of its transactions. These are stored in a limited form for accounting, tax, audit and legal-compliance purposes only and are not used to contact or profile you.
Retention period: Up to 8 years from the end of the relevant financial year, then deleted or anonymised.
Records needed for a legal obligation, dispute, fraud prevention or safety
Why: If information is required to complete a delivery already in progress, resolve a chargeback or complaint, prevent fraud or abuse, or comply with a law-enforcement or court request, we keep the minimum necessary for that specific purpose.
Retention period: Only for as long as that purpose lasts, then deleted.
Data already shared with delivery and payment partners for completed orders
Why: Logistics providers (for example Shiprocket) and payment processors act as independent data controllers for orders they fulfilled or processed, and keep their own records under their own policies. We ask them to delete data on request where the law allows.
Retention period: Governed by each partner's retention policy.
Aggregated or anonymised analytics
Why: Information that has been stripped of identifiers and can no longer be linked to you is not personal data.
Retention period: Retained indefinitely in anonymised form.
How long it takes
- Within 72 hours: we acknowledge your request and may contact you to confirm you own the account.
- Within 30 days: your account and personal data are deleted or anonymised, except the records listed above, and we email you a confirmation.
- Up to 8 years: legally required financial and transaction records are retained, then deleted or anonymised.
Deleting your account is permanent and cannot be undone. Any active orders will be completed before the account is removed. See our Privacy Policy for more detail on how we handle your data.
